The Commission has two working groups at present:
- Non-Food Agriculture
Examining the role biotechnology will potentially play in the development of non-food agricultural
products
- Research Agendas
Examining how research agendas in agricultural biotechnology are determined, and whether they
sufficiently address policy needs and public aspirations
The Commission is moving to more flexible working methods to make best use of Members’ expertise and
enabling them to be involved in both of the Commission's work streams. As such, a small core group of
three members are leading each work stream, with one of these championing it. Other Members are
involved on a flexible basis, as and when appropriate to their interests and background. The core
groups report to the full Commission at each Commission meeting who may then decide to undertake
further work and take further evidence before finalising a report.
