PUBLIC ATTITUDES GROUP

The work of this developmental group originally comprised both public attitudes and consumer choice. These two areas of work are now being taken forward separately.

The public attitudes and consumer choice group arranged a seminar on 16 January 2001 with a number of leading social research academics, which was also attended by a number of developmental group members. The agenda, minutes and background papers are available. For details, please click here. The public attitudes and consumer choice group also met on 5 February 2001.

The public attitudes group took forward advice to Government about the conduct of a public debate on the issue of commercialisation of GM crops in the United Kingdom. The AEBC gave this advice in April 2002. The group's work is now completed, following the setting up of the steering board for the public debate on GM.
