Apologies 

1. Matthew Freeman and John Gilliland were away and had sent their apologies.

Minutes of the previous meeting, on 10 May

2. Members had previously agreed these in circulation and they were confirmed.

Consideration of draft scenarios, aspects to discuss with the full AEBC on 18 July, and draft Working Paper

3. Members discussed the draft scenarios.  The secretariat would take on board revisions which were discussed and agreed, to update the scenarios paper, and would send this in the next couple of days for the Commission’s July meeting. 

4. The group aimed to consult stakeholders about the scenarios as early as possible, if possible with responses back by the early autumn, to guide the draft report. 

5. Members also discussed and agreed changes to a draft covering paper for the full Commission, which outlined the aspects on which the sub-group would particularly value input from the full Commission.      

6. Given the fairly short time for discussion with the full Commission, the group would like Members to focus on the scenarios.  Alongside these, the draft working paper contents page would be circulated to show the planned structure.    

Evidence taking during 11-12 September AEBC meeting in Edinburgh

7. Members agreed that it would be useful to take evidence during the 11-12 September AEBC meeting in Edinburgh.  The secretariat would make arrangements for this.    

Any other business

8. The sub-group would aim to produce an executive summary (eg as an A5 size leaflet) to the liability report.      

Dates for future liability group meetings

9. Members agreed future meeting dates on:  

  • 7 August, 10.30am to 1.30 pm, in London. (Sue Mayer and Derek Langslow would unfortunately be unable to attend.)

  • 12 September, 12.30-2.30pm, in Edinburgh, after the full AEBC meeting.

  • 18 October, 10.30am-1.30pm, in London.

  • 5 November, 10.30am-1.30pm, in London.
